Our Board

MPH's Board meet every two months and is made up of 15 members including four Councillors, six residents and five independent people with professional skills to help run the service. They ensure that our services provide innovative solutions to build communities where people want to live and work, and hold the organisation’s performance to account.

Board Members

Jenny Mills (Chair)
Jenny has lived in and around Wimbledon village since 1987. Having now retired Jenny does some part time consultancy work and is on the Board and Chair of the Finance Committee of the charity, The Migraine Trust. She enjoys foreign travel and golf in her spare time. After 30 years of working for IT Services companies, moving into Sales and Marketing and General Management, she joined Hanover Housing Association as Group Director of Corporate Services. As part of the growth of the Hanover Group, it undertook a successful transfer of some 4,500 properties from Hackney Council into a stand alone housing association. Jenny was involved in all aspects of the transfer as a member of the Group Executive Board, with responsibility for the integration of IT, HR and Marketing into the new transfer organisation and in overseeing the transfer of staff. She joined the Merton Board to make use of her interest and experience in social housing and to become more involved in the local community, and became its Chair in February 2011.

Robin Bainton (Vice Chair)
A Chartered Engineer, Robin began his career in construction, followed by civil engineering consultancy. He then worked in the public sector in a variety of engineering and management roles. Robin has also worked in management consultancy and was an Audit Commission Best Value Inspector, before returning to work in Local Government. Robin is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management and specialised in performance management, efficiency and organisational change. He sees Merton Priory Homes and his role as Vice Chair on the Board as an opportunity to improve services for tenants and leaseholders and provide better value for money for rent and service charges. He serves as Vice Chair of the Board.

Robin is a member of the MPH Leaseholder Forum, Single Properties and Small Properties Forum and Circle Group Policy Forum.

Ray Barker
Ray is married with one son and has worked in housing since 1975. He started his housing career in Lambeth Council working in various roles in the allocations and lettings department. He then took a role as deputy officer in charge of a large hostel for single homeless men in Lewisham. In 1987 he studied full time for a post graduate diploma in housing at Bristol University. On passing that he worked for a housing association for 14 years, undertaking a variety of management roles and special projects. In 2003 Ray became an Audit Commission Housing Inspector and stayed in that position for four years.

Since leaving the Audit Commission he has worked for two housing associations as the Assistant Director of Operations and the Head of Quality and Service Improvement. Ray is currently working as a consultant. Ray joined the Shadow Board of Merton Priory Homes in September 2008 and was vice chair of the Policy Sub Group. He is currently a member of the Property Investment Panel and is also on the panel of members that hear stage 3 complaints.

Nick Draper
Nick Draper has been the elected Council Member for the Colliers Wood Ward for 12 of the past 16 years and works for the NHS Blood Service as an Administrator. He describes himself as being very ‘hands on’ in his role as a Councillor and has been an active and assertive member of the Council’s Scrutiny Panel. He is a member (and past Chairman) of the Board of Governors of a local School for children with Special Needs and has a particular interest in this area, both as a Councillor and in a personal capacity, having co-founded the Child Association Support Group for relatives and carers. He is also a Trustee of the Merton Priory Trust. He is anxious to secure the renovation programme promised by the Stock Transfer and is aware of the need to manage local expectations within the current economic climate.

Maurice Groves
Councillor Groves is the elected member for the Lower Morden Ward. He was previously the Cabinet member for Libraries, Heritage and Adult Education. Cabinet Member for Adult Care Services and Health, responsible for Community care services including relations with local PCT and health organisations and progress on Better Healthcare Closer to Home programme, healthy living schemes, Social services for adults, services for adults with learning disabilities and mental health services and older people’s services including support for carers, day care for the elderly and meals on wheels. Now a member of the 'Merton Council Healthier Communities and Older People Overview and Scrutiny Panel'.

Maurice now shadows on 'Adult Social care/day/respite care', and how the built environment relates to quality of life". He is chair of 'Merton Council Conservation Area Design Panel', and on the executive of 'London Road Safety Council'. Governor at Aragon School and Children’s Centre. Previously a Governor of the 'Museum of London' He joined the Shadow Board in July 2009.

Ann Moyies
Ann is married with two sons and seven grandchildren. Having moved from Hackney Ann has lived in Merton for 24 years. She has been a highly motivated and very passionate tenant representative and has a wealth of experience. Ann chaired the shadow board through the stock transfer process and is very committed to the success of Merton Priory Homes. Ann also chaired Merton Priory Homes board for the first eleven months after going live.

Ann sits on various core groups such as the 'Decent Homes Core Group', the 'Strategic Core Group (Decent Homes)', the 'Repairs and Maintenance Core Group' and the 'Community Fund Panel'.

Ann also attends the Maintenance review group for Circle.

Ann is dedicated to seeing that the promises made in the offer document are kept and on track and that all residents see improvements to their services as promised.

Robin Roberts
Robin has over 25 year’s experience of working within the construction industry, both in the private and public sectors. Robin is a chartered architect (RIBA) and also a chartered surveyor (MRICS). He currently works for a successful medium sized stock transfer housing association as Property Services Director responsible for asset management, development and sustainability as well as the in-house building and grounds maintenance teams. Having worked for a stock transfer housing association, he understands the issues and services that residents will expect from Merton Priory Homes as well as the importance of delivering transfer commitments. He wants the Board to ensure that choice and customer commitment, wherever possible, are at the heart of all decision making.

Moses Salisu
Moses Salisu is originally from Southern part of Nigeria in Africa where he graduated with National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. He later moved to London then Naturalised as a British Citizen in 2008. Moses works as a Building Maintenance Officer at Glory House International in London. He is passionate about people's success and their environments, and uses his spare time to serve people anywhere he finds himself.

As a result off his voluntary services to people and God in his local church for years, he was ordained as an Elder in his church. In this regard, he later started a ministry of his own called Ministry of Reconciliation, where all diversity of people are encouraged to be useful to themselves and their community; enhancing community development. Moses pioneered a Residents Association (Harland Estate Residents' Association) in 2008 at Merton Priory Homes where local residents are being encouraged to get involved in the community work. As the chairperson, he proactively organises opportunities for people to come together within the local neighbourhood for friendship, fun and to establish a community spirit. He was the winner of the Merton Priory Homes 'Good Neighbour' award in November 2010 which was presented by adventurer Miles Hilton-Barber and the Chair of Merton Priory homes.

Judy Saunders
Judy Saunders lives in Mitcham and has been a Mitcham Councillor since 1994. She believes that people have a right to a decent quality of life, including a decent home and is passionate about people empowerment and ensuring the voices of residents are not only heard, but acted upon. Her reason for being on the Board is to help determine how this is achieved for the people of Merton.

Krysia Williams
Krysia has lived in Merton for over 30 years whilst she pursued a career as an IT and Management Consultant. She is married with three daughters currently attending university. In 2008/9 she was Deputy Mayor of Merton and enjoyed the opportunity to visit a wide variety of groups within the Merton community who are working hard to improve people’s life experience. In 2006 she was elected an independent local councillor in Merton. She is convinced of the importance of a decent home for everyone and this stimulated her to become a member of the steering group for ‘Better Homes’ and then to put herself forward for membership of the Merton Priory Homes Board

Benedicta Yanwube
Benedicta is married with four children. She lives in Morden. Benedicta graduated with a BSc in Computer Science and as a Microsoft Certified Professional. She works as an IT desktop technician.
