Merton Priory Homes works to highlight the dangers of dog fouling on communal land and play areas across its estates throughout the year.
Throughout the summer the team targeted hot spots and issued free poop bags to encourage dog owners to clear up and to dispose of the mess into one of the 91 dog mess bins we have installed.
Dog mess is not only extremely unpleasant but also harmful. Young children are at the greatest risk of contracting avoidable diseases, because they are more likely to come into contact with soil contaminated by dog mess whilst playing outdoors.
Our message to dog owners
Most dog owners are responsible and clean up after their pets. Those who do not risk being issued a Fixed Penalty Notice. So – Bag it, Bin it and avoid a fine!
Due to the success of the programme, it will be revived from time to time throughout the year, in collaboration with Merton Council.
