Roddons achieves TPAS Landlord Accreditation

Celebrations were the order of the day when Roddons Housing Association staff and residents were officially recognised for working effectively together.

The much-coveted Landlord Accreditation was awarded to Roddons by the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) just before Christmas following a 12-month assessment process.

On Tuesday, Michelle Reid, Chief Executive of TPAS, officially presented the award and framed certificate to resident involvement officer Sally Taylor at a celebration event. Residents who were involved in the TPAS Accreditation process or who sit on the various Tenant Advisory Groups at Roddons and staff were invited along to the celebrations.

In July 2010, Roddons commissioned TPAS to assess the quality of resident its involvement arrangements. Sally worked with Kate Newbolt, a lead consultant with TPAS over 12 months to pull together the evidence and supporting information for the assessment.

Welcoming everyone, chair of Roddons Board and a resident, Brenda Reynolds, said everyone deserved a ‘pat on the back’ for their work.

“This is an award for all of us but we can’t rest on our laurels though, it is onwards and upwards from now on“, she added.

Presenting the award, Michelle Reid said that the commitment by Roddons to put residents at the heart of everything it did shone through and it was one of only 40 housing providers which had achieved this quality standard.

“Roddons Housing Association is a great addition to the TPAS Accredited family. The organisation thrives on its partnership culture and open and honest dialogue between staff and residents”, added Michelle. “The leadership team, Board, and chair of Roddons ensure that every resident has the opportunity to get involved, and the residents have responded to those opportunities with commitment and creativity in the organisation’s short four-year history.“

Debby Bunn, managing director of Roddons Housing Association, said: “We are very proud of this achievement. It clearly shows that we put residents at the heart of everything we do and it reflects the positive partnership between staff and residents.”

Mark Lowthian, assistant director of neighbourhoods, said Roddons was delighted that TPAS had recognised its ‘genuine and passionate’ commitment to residents. “This award is a testament to the fantastic partnership and style of involvement that we have forged between resident, staff and Board members,” he added.

The acclaimed Accreditation will last for three years, after which the association can choose whether to go for further assessment.
